What does Cabin class mean in practice?

Cabin class is the first filter a broker applies to your request, because it maps roughly to passenger count, trip length and price.

Industry summaries put very light jets at 6 to 7 passengers with an average range around 1,174 nautical miles, light jets at 6 to 8 passengers and about 1,953 nautical miles, midsize at around 9 passengers and 2,540 nautical miles, super-midsize at 10 to 11 passengers and 3,420 nautical miles, large jets at 13 to 14 passengers and 4,000 nautical miles, and long-range jets at 12 to 19 passengers and roughly 6,500 nautical miles. Two aircraft in the same class can differ in cabin height, baggage space, lavatory, and whether you can stand up. Class boundaries also move as new models appear. When comparing quotes, ask for the specific type and year, not just the class, and check seat count against your party, since a stated maximum can include a belted lavatory seat.
