What does Round-trip charter mean in practice?

Round-trip charter is the format operators prefer, because the aircraft ends where it started.

For a same-day or overnight return, the aircraft and crew usually wait at the destination. You may pay for crew overnight costs, parking and handling at the destination airport. For a longer stay, the operator may fly the aircraft home and come back for you, and will charge for those sectors. Ask which applies. Some operators quote a daily minimum of flying hours, so a short hop with a multi-day stay may be priced on the minimum rather than the actual time. Round trips rarely appear as empty legs, since there is no empty sector to sell. The exception is when your trip creates an empty leg for someone else: the aircraft's journey to collect you, or its return after dropping you. Your broker may offset part of your cost if that sector sells.
